LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Don't forget the March for Babies this Saturday at Mackenzie Park. That effort by the March of Dimes last year raised a quarter of a million dollars and this year, the goal in Lubbock alone is $325,000, money that is saving the lives of babies.
"It helps to fund again education for mothers and the research that's funded actually benefits these babies," said Adaobi Kanu, M.D., a Pediatric Pulmonologist at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. "In fact the research was responsible for the development of Sursactant, which is responsible for survival of premature babies."
The March for Babies gets underway Saturday morning at Mackenzie Park at 9:30 a.m.
