Lubbock Motorcyclist Becomes City's Tenth Traffic Fatality

28-year-old Elix Dedrick McGuire died after his motorcylce hit a car in the 100 block of North University. Sergeant Ronnie Sowell of the Lubbock Police Department said McGuire was headed south on University, and the car was headed north.

The car then attempted to turn left in front of the motorcycle, and that is when the two vehicles collided. "The motorcyclist saw he was fixin' to be in trouble, locked the bike down and impacted the vehicle," said Sowell. "He was wearing a helmet but at the rate of speed it didn't help him."

The driver of the car was not injured.
