Loop 289 Closures start Sunday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Drivers may have problems on West Loop 289 starting Sunday. Starting at 10 p.m. Sunday night the Texas Department of Transportation will reduce North and Southbound traffic on the Loop to 1 lane in each direction from 34th Street to Frankford Avenue.  TXDOT expects it will take 12 to 15 months to complete the work.

Crews will also remove overhead bridges and close the Northbound Loop 289 to the 19th Street clover leaf exit. Traffic in that area should expect delays throughout the night.

These closures start the process of widening the Loop from 4 to 6 lanes.
