LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Lubbock's City Cemetery will soon have a new memorial, if the City Council approves it Monday morning. There are several Baby Land sections in the City Cemetery. But some of the older infant graves in each Baby Land do not have headstones.
A proposed memorial and contemplative space will recognize all infants, including infants whose gravesite cannot be located. A bronze sculpture by local artist Vivian Cooke is proposed and would cost $50,000 to pay from the Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
