I-27 bridges project requires closure of Loop 461 in New Deal

NEW DEAL, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Department of Transportation will close Loop 461 (Monroe Avenue), at I-27, to all traffic beginning April 21. The closure will allow contractors to demolish the southbound I-27 bridge. Motorists can expect the closure to remain in place for 2-3 days. Loop 461 traffic will be detoured around the work area.

Construction crews are currently working to switch all north- and southbound traffic onto the northbound I-27 lanes and newly constructed bridges.

Demolition work will take place weather permitting.

The work is part of a $7.3 million project that will reconstruct six bridge structures along I-27 near New Deal. SCR Construction Company, Inc., of Richmond, Texas, is performing the work to rebuild the structures. The project is expected to complete in October 2010.
