Pete Christy Honored for B.U.S.T Campaign at AWC luncheon

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - NewsChannel 11's Sports Director Pete Christy was one of many that received a special honor at Tuesday's Women in Communications award luncheon.

During the luncheon, the Lubbock Chapter of AWC honored Pete for his effort to put a stop to teens texting behind the wheel.

Pete created the BUST Campaign, Buckle Up and Stop Texting, after Seagraves High School senior Alex Brown fatally rolled her truck when she was texting and driving last November.

Alex's parents were also at Tuesday's Luncheon.

Also honored at the luncheon were Robert & Jana Barnhill, JC Chambers, Don and Debbie Curry, Sara Jo Lambert, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals, Don McInturff, Eddie Owens, David Seim, Team Pinktober, Texas Tech Meat Judging Program and the winner of the George Mahon Award for a Lifetime of Public Service was Margaret Talkington.
