City's busiest intersections also most dangerous

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Some of the city's busiest intersections are also the most dangerous.

This comes from a study by the City's Traffic Engineering Department.

The study found that intersections with the highest amount of traffic had the highest number of accidents. Other factors for the high accident numbers include weather, construction work, and distracted drivers, in which the report said may be due to texting.

The four most dangerous intersections in Lubbock for 2009 are South Loop 289 and Slide, South Loop and Quaker, South Loop and University, and the South Loop and Indiana.

Each of these intersections had more than 100 accidents in 2009.
