The Hub City celebrates 40th Anniversary of Earth Day


LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Thursday is the 40th Annual Earth Day and people around the country and here in the Hub City are celebrating.

Roscoe Elementary had its 5th Annual Earth Day celebration, and this year, students learned about organic gardening, storm water conservation, and recycling.

And the Texas Tech Engineering program brought a miniature wind generator to demonstrate alternative form of energy.

West of town, Reese and the Air Force honored Earth Day and the cleanup of rocket fuel from the groundwater under Reese with a ceremonial tree planting.

In Wolfforth, there are new trees for a park there. Xcel planted trees in observance of Earth Day at Patterson Park.
