LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Saturday afternoon Lubbock Police discovered a mother dead inside an apartment near 33rd and Avenue U.  Authorities say the victim's oldest child contacted their aunt, who called police just after 3:00 p.m.

When police arrived on scene they found the victim, Tori Pennington, 32 and her three children in an apartment at the Town Homes at O'Neil Terrace. Investigators have not released any details about the victims injuries, but say it is an apparent homicide.

"I want to make sure that everybody keeps in mind that the medical examiner's office makes a ruling on the cause and manner of death, none the less, it does appear very evident that it is a homicide situation," Captain Greg Stevens said.

Stevens says the children are now with a family member. Investigators spent the evening questioning neighbors and canvassing the area for evidence.

Stevens says they will have to wait on autopsy results before they reveal more details.
