Groundbreaking on Quaker, new 7-lane thoroughfare

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – The city of Lubbock broke ground Tuesday for the widening of Quaker Avenue in Southwest Lubbock, which will widen Quaker to seven lanes, from 98th to 114th streets.

The $4.8 million project is the first of several approved by voters during the November 2009 bond election.

Lanes will be restricted during the construction but the plan is to not detour traffic. The city expects this project to be complete sometime in summer of 2011.
