LEVELLAND, TX (KCBD) - A fight between a South Plains College basketball player and a fellow student that started on Facebook and ended with an ambulance ride and an arrest.

The fight happened in a classroom on the Levelland campus of South Plains College.

The Levelland Police Department tells NewsChannel 11 that SPC freshman and basketball player Kenny Brown was talking about fellow classmate, Brandon Pitts, on Facebook Monday night.

According to the police report, Pitts said he was afraid of Brown, and took a baseball bat to school expecting a fight with him.

A witness says Pitts then hit Brown in the face with his fist. Brown fell and busted his head open. The police report also says that the witness took a baseball bat away from Pitts.

The witness, an instructor at South Plains College, states in the report that Pitts was not provoked in any way and that Brown did not attempt to hit or attack Pitts.

Brown was treated at the Covenant Emergency Room in Levelland and released.

Pitts was arrested for assault and taken to the Hockley County Jail.
