LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - I am not hesitant to be the first to criticize the city of Lubbock when they blow it. After all, we pay them a lot of our money to get it right.
Well, this time I think they have. Last year, city officials launched a new service called 3-1-1. Basically it's a way citizens can get help with city issues or report problems without being transferred to ten different departments first.
Well, I'm happy to say I'm using it, and it is working.
Consider this: whether you see a pot hole that needs repair, a dead animal that needs to be carried away, or even a neighborhood eyesore, 3-1-1 is very easy. One phone call, a real live human, and you are done. And the best part is your problem actually gets addressed in a timely manner. At least that's been my experience so far.
In a time when the needs of citizens are so often blocked by government red tape, it is nice to see that Lubbock is getting it right. Congratulations to the City Manager and staff of 3-1-1. Let's keep this kind of citizen service going.
