Lubbock Police Stop Runaway Car

What first appeared to be a police chase that ended at South University and Loop 289 about nine-thirty Thursday evening, was actually a medical emergency.

Police say a middle aged man driving a black Acura Legend had a diabetic seizure while driving, and passed out at the wheel.

Police and EMS crews followed the man for several miles around South Lubbock before a police cruiser was able to stop him at South Loop 289 and University.

The man and his little boy, who was also in the vehicle, are said to be doing fine.

The man was transported to Covenant Medical Center, and his son was sent home with his mother.
