Lubbock Man Ordered To Have Mouth Taped Shut, Sentenced 45 Years

The man who's mouth was duct taped shut by a Lubbock Judge's order, now faces 45 years in prison. Carl Wiley was sentenced Thursday for Aggravated Assault. He rammed his vehicle into his estranged wife's car in November of 2001. Vicki Wiley was not injured.

During the trial, Wiley repeatedly interrupted his attorney and the judge, and ignored the judge's orders to be quiet. So, Judge Jim Bob Darnell ordered a bailiff to duct tape his mouth shut.

During sentencing Thursday, Wiley apologized to District Judge Darnell for his behavior in February.
