Texas Tech to host antique appraisal fair Saturday

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Texas Tech University Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) will host an antique appraisal fair as a charity event.

Texas-based appraisers will value possessions with a casual appraisal at the cost of $20 for two items. Appraisals on coins, stamps or weapons will not be offered. The event is open to the public and will begin at 10:00 a.m. May 1st at University College at Texas Tech, 605 Indiana Ave.

"This Antique Appraisal Fair is a first-time event for OLLI," said Emma Carrasco, unit coordinator for the Outreach Adult Program. "The event is important to raise much-needed funds for our operating expenses projected for the upcoming fall and spring semesters. Another goal of equal importance is to raise awareness and increase membership by promoting the uniqueness of OLLI to potential members in Lubbock and the surrounding communities."

OLLI is a self-funded membership organization endowed by the Bernard Osher Foundation. It offers intellectual stimulation and civic engagement through non-credit classes designed for individuals older than 50. Interested individuals may become OLLI members for $35 and enjoy various benefits, such as discounted registration fees on OLLI programs and Texas Tech activities and events.
