Two Lubbock Census workers killed in accident

MIDLAND, TX (KCBD) -

MIDLAND, TX (KCBD) - Two Census workers based in Lubbock are dead after a wreck near Midland. The accident happened around 12:30 Friday afternoon.

DPS troopers say 67-year-old Merlyn Millsap of Levelland was driving a blue Dodge pickup when he ran a stop sign northwest of Midland and was hit by a tanker truck.

Millsap's passenger, 31-year-old Sara Pierce from Brownfield, was pronounced dead at the scene. Millsap was taken to Midland Memorial Hospital where he later died. The driver of the tanker truck was also taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

Millsap and Pierce were on their way back to Lubbock to begin follow up visits Saturday at homes that did not mail in Census forms.
