Friday collision involving an underage driver sends several to the hospital

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – A 6-year-old girl who was critically injured in an accident Friday morning is expected to be ok.

The child was thrown from an SUV at the intersection of 48th Street and Avenue Q.  The driver of one of the SUVs that were involved David Cantu, 53, collided with a vehicle driven by a 15-year-old girl, who did not have a driver's license.

Neither driver was injured, but EMS took the three children that were in the other SUV to the hospital.  Two boys, ages five and 10, were in the vehicle driven by the 15-year-old, and were not badly hurt.

Sunday the little girl's condition was upgraded to fair.
