LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Brittany Campli says she's lost 15 pounds and she says it's because of her Iphone. A new app for that called "lose it" is free. You just download it into your Iphone, Itouch, or Ipad. Then, you plug in your weight and how much you want to weigh and "Lose it". It gives you a daily calorie budget. You type in what you eat and the app counts down your calories until you've hit your limit. Dr. Richard Engel, a bariatric surgeon, says he thinks "Lose it" might be a great option for obese patients before they turn to bariatric surgery.
"It's something that's extremely useful, it helps people to be mindful of what they need to do every day," said Dr. Engel.
The calorie count of hundreds of foods as well as many restaurant dishes is already stored in the device, which even warned Brittany that a double cheeseburger and fries for lunch would make it hard for her to meet her goal that day.
"It's really convenient. I think that's really the best part about it," said Campli, who is losing weight with the Iphone.
She says helps her make better choices when she's ordering food. The only problem is it's not compatible with other smart phones, but you might check with your app store, they may offer something similar.
