LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A 23-year-old man has been indicted by a Lubbock County grand jury for failure to stop and render aid and for fleeing the scene of a fatal accident in April.
Zachary Doss is accused of hitting another car near 19th Street and Raleigh in the early morning hours of April 18th. Four people were seriously injured in the other car and Doss' two passengers were also seriously hurt.
One of the passengers in the car that was hit, 80-year-old Julia Garcia, died almost a week after the crash at University Medical Center.
A few days after the wreck, Doss and his wife, Sarah Doss, were arrested. Sarah Doss was in the vehicle that Zachary left at the scene. She was arrested for hindering Doss' arrest.
Both Zachary and Sarah were indicted on Tuesday. They were both released last month from the Lubbock County Jail. Zachary was released on a $55,000 bond and Sarah was released on a $1,500 bond.
Because one of the victims of the crash died, Zachary's charges may be upgraded at a later date.
