Leach's lawyers request judge to punish the TTU lawyers

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Fired coach Mike Leach wants the judge to punish Texas Tech's lawyers. Leach's lawyer Ted Liggett filed a request on Thursday afternoon.

In the request, he says the University did not turn over an email from former Regent Windy Sitton, in which she calls the current Chancellor Kent Hance arrogant.

Leach's lawyer claims that if he had been able to see that email it would change some of his questions during sworn statements of one witness.

Dicky Grigg, attorney for Texas Tech University, says, "The reason they didn't get it is because they didn't ask for it. Windy Sitton was just an average fan at that point, she wasn't a regent at that point."

Grigg also says Texas Tech has done everything to comply with all the judge's ordering including turning over relevant documents.

Thursday, Sitton spoke out about the email in question. She says she sent the email to Regent Larry Turner as a personal friend and admits she was upset by the firing of Mike Leach. However, she goes on to say she was just going off the version of events given to her by Mike Leach.

Sitton now says that she regrets sending the email and the remarks she made about Chancellor Kent Hance and Athletic Director Gerald Myers.
