LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – How would you like to be more productive? Some people are taking brain physicals to learn what exactly they have up there, and how to best put it to use. The test claims to measure cognitive brain functions along with reasoning and mental flexibility.
Dr. Sandra Bond Chapman, Chief Director at the Center for Brain Health in Dallas, says what they're finding with these tests is that many people are burning out their brains by multi-tasking. She explains, "We actually start to see this type of mental function decline in our 30's and 40's, because people go to more automatic levels of processing information - just information in, information out."
If you feel like you're burning out from multi-tasking, Dr. Chapman suggests that you write a list your top three tasks on paper every day. And make the time to work on each for 30 minutes at a time with no distractions, like the TV, phone, or emails. This will allow the brain to focus instead of dividing attention.
The Brain Physical is a two hour test, which Dr. Chapman says is so sensitive that can even detect pre-clinical stages of Alzheimer's disease.
