LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Members of the South Plains Storm Spotting Team commemorated the upcoming anniversary of the F-5 tornado that tore through Lubbock Saturday. The 40th anniversary comes next week on May 11th.
Saturday, the storm spotters received a special call sign to broadcast different facts about the tornado across the country from their mobile command unit. They set up on the north side of the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, in the same path where the deadly F-5 tornado hit. Greg Viroff tells us their message reached folks on the east and west coasts, and into Canada.
Don't forget to join us for "The 1970 Tornado, Then, and Now", a First Alert Special Report Sunday night at 10:30.
