LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Authorities from Swisher County are searching for a Tulia man that escaped from the Swisher County Jail Monday morning.

According to the Swisher County Sheriff's Department, 27-year-old Frankie Mancha Alvarez was collecting trash with another inmate when he told a jailer he wanted to take a trash bag out of the jail to a Dumpster about 9:00 a.m.

"He just walked away," Sheriff Emmitt Benavidez said. "He left part of his jailhouse uniform here, so we don't know what he's wearing."

Benavidez said Alvarez was in the jail on a parole violation and had a sexual assault charge pending against him.

Alvarez is described as 5-foot-8, 150 pounds with black hair and Brown eyes. Authorities believe that he is heading to Waco, Texas because he has family living there.

If you have any information about Alvarez and where he could be, you are urged to call the Swisher County Sheriff's Office at 806-995-3326.
