LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – When the weather warms up and our clothing gets lighter, there are two more things we need to wear outside, sunscreen and bug repellant.  So, what about combining the two and buying them together in one product?  Here's why a Nurse Practitioner from the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center says you should use two different products.

"Sunscreen we already talked about, needs to be reapplied every two to four hours," said Joni Wells, R.N.  She adds, "DEET is only supposed to be applied about at no more than twice a day okay, so if you're putting on a combination product, you're getting too much DEET on your child, so two separate products."

Joni advises you should never put sunscreen or a bug spray with DEET on a baby younger than six months old.  Just protect them with light weight long sleeve clothes and a hat.
