After two weeks with no Low Performers, the streak has ended. It's another plentiful Top Performing list. Our only Low Performer has four critical violations. We'll tell you about those in just a minute, but first let's get crackin' on those Top Performers. Here's this week's edition of Food for Thought.
We start of with tech area hot spot. Chimy's at 2417 Broadway gets a perfect score this week, making them a Food for Thought Top Performer. Open for a little over a year, this spicy little eatery is popular with college students and the downtown lunch crowd.
"Just a clean friendly Tex Mex environment," says owner Kyle Wright, who gives a lot of credit to a hardworking kitchen manager and staff. "Well I kind of leave my kitchen manager Raymond Morin in charge, he has a lot of expectations from the health department and from me but he's been doing this for 30 years so he's pretty much the man," says Wright. The staff knows just what to do, without question. "The list is in their head. They got it memorized."
Next on the list--the Bakery at Albertson's at 6524 Slide Road gets a perfect score, making them a Food for Thought Top Performer.
The Cafe inside Barnes and Noble at 6707 Slide Road brews up zero critical violations.
Dippin' Dots is our next Top Performer. Located inside South Plains Mall at 6002 Slide Road, they also earn a perfect score.
Quizno's at 6802 Slide Road slices up zero critical violations this week.
And finally Wienerschnitzel at 7102 Quaker puts on the dog this week as a Top Performer, with zero critical violations.
The only Low Performer this week is another Wienerschnitzel, located at 301 University. That's where four critical violations were found. Violations including
An open employee drink found in the food service area.
There was a dented can of sauerkraut found on service shelves in the dry storage area.
No hand sanitizer was provided at the hand sinks or in the prep area.
The interior of an ice machine was lightly soiled.
Other violations included soiled floors near a Co2 canister. The manager at Wienerschnitzel had no comment, but the report shows that all critical violations were corrected on site.
