A jury decided Thursday morning, former Texas Tech student, Matthew McKlveen was incompetent to stand trial.
McKlveen allegedly stabbed Tamzid Farhat in the neck last April. It happened inside Doak Hall on the Tech Campus. Farhat has since recovered. Police arrested McKlveen that same day and he was charged with attempted murder.
On Thursday, a jury decided McKlveen was not mentally capable to stand trial. Mcklveen's attorney's say he is suffering from Schizophrenia and Paranoia. He will be sent to Vernon State Hospital for the next 90 to 120 days. After that, another competency hearing will be held to see if he is ready for trial.
