LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A New Mexico girl, who has called Lubbock home for nearly a year, and beaten all odds will graduate from high school on Saturday.
Jordan Beard was involved in a near fatal car wreck last August after falling asleep at the wheel in Melrose, New Mexico.
Because of a critical head injury, doctors back then thought she only had days to live. She was in a non responsive coma for months at covenant, but has slowly started to recover.
Her mother and the doctors say they never lost hope.
"In our heart of hearts we know she'll make a full recovery, because she is getting everything back. We're getting our sounds back. I got a mom on Mother's Day which is the greatest present ever and so we continue to praise God for everything he is doing," said mother Dedra Martin.
"In her situation given brain injuries, there's no cookie cutter outcome. There's no way for us to know exactly where she is going to get or when the progression will stop, but given as much progress as she's made at this point and the fact that we have seen no plateauing, we have no reason not to believe she's not going to make an amazing recovery," said Occupational Therapist T.J. Evans.
Jordan will go home Saturday for the first time and graduate from Melrose High School.
