COLUMBIA, Mo. – The final day of the Big 12 Outdoor Championships had rain and cloudy weather for the second-straight day but Tech persevered winning two individual titles with Bryce Brown and Shade Weygandt taking the 400M hurdles and pole vault title respectively.
Weygandt won the women's pole vault with a record-setting performance. She cleared a personal best of 14'-2.75 (4.34M) to win both the indoor and outdoor pole vault title. She is the first Lady Raider to win a pole vault title in the Big 12. Weygandt's teammate Amanda Alley picked up all-conference honors placing fifth in the women's pole vault with a mark of 12'-11" (3.94M).
"It is amazing (winning both the indoor and outdoor Big 12 titles), Weygandt said." "Definitely coming in as a freshman it states my name and I mean business and I'm ready to jump some high marks."
The Red Raiders dominated the 400M hurdles putting three into the finals and finishing first, second and sixth. Junior Brown won his first Big 12 title running a personal best of 49.64.
