Is Airport threat suspect insane?

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Is the man accused of threatening to blow up a plane at the Lubbock Airport insane or mentally ill?

A judge wants to know.

The judge writes "the court hereby finds that there is reasonable cause to believe that the defendant, Johnathan Ivins, may be presently suffering from a mental disease or defect."

Ivins will stay in jail until a certified psychiatrist or psychologist can examine him.

Specifically, the judge needs to know if Ivins is competent to stand trial but also if he understood what he was doing at the time of the bomb threat.

Ivins admits he jokingly made a threat online.
