The City of Lubbock celebrated Arbor Day Friday at the Quest Grove for two reasons. First, a new spring will be constructed at Canyon Lake. It is a memorial dedicated to the Quest family who has donated more than $20,000 to plant trees in the area. Second, Lubbock has also been named Tee City USA, an award given by the Arbor Day Foundation.
On Texas Tech Campus, the observance of Arbor Day included more than just planting. Students were served lunch while local bands performed on stage. Then, the planting began at one, as student organizations grabbed shovels and dug in to beautify the campus.
