LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock DJ is in the Lubbock County Jail accused of scamming his listeners out of thousands of dollars.

Police say 38-year-old Charles "Chuck Dakota" Joslin told his fans on Stars 97.3 a sob story about a single mother raising a child with cancer, after his father was killed in Iraq. The money began pouring in.

Joslin's co-workers also fell for the scam. His employers at RAMAR Communications became suspicious when he couldn't keep his story straight.

Lubbock police arrested Joslin on Tuesday. His bond was set at $20,000. He was charged with two counts of theft between $1,500 and $20,000. According to the arrest warrant, the scam took place between January 11th and February 1st.

The report says that Joslin scammed $18,000 from his listeners. Those who donated would be entered into multiple drawings for various items, such as trips or Super Bowl tickets.
