Police investigate Sunday morning homicide

Posted: Updated:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD)- A man is dead and police continue to search for his killer tonight after what they believe to be a homicide Sunday morning.  Police responded to a call of shots fired and found 28-year-old Marqus Lewis dead in his Northwest Lubbock home about 6 a.m. Sunday morning.

He lived at 5604 Grinnell Street.  Detectives spent the day knocking on doors asking neighbors for any information that could help solve this case.

When police got to the home, the apparent homicide was not the only illegal activity they found.  They removed dozens of Marijuana plants from the house.  Both crimes surprised neighbors.  "I was pretty shocked when we realized what had happened.  We later found out there were drugs in the house, that they were growing marijuana in the house,  Of course nobody around knew anything like that was going on either, so it was pretty shocking," said Jamie Walker.

Neighbors tell us Lewis lived in the house with another man who found his body Sunday morning.

Police say they do not have any suspects at this time, but they continue to investigate.  If you know anything that could help police solve this case they ask you to call Crime Line at 741-1000.
