LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A 27-year-old Abernathy woman is in serious condition after her car fell off of an I-27 overpass early Saturday morning.

Lubbock Police say that Joelda Robnett was headed south on I-27 around 3:30 a.m. when she hit a speed limit sign and a light pole near the 4th Street overpass then her car fell nearly 20-feet to the frontage road below.

UMC reports that when Robnett was first taken to the hospital, she was in critical condition. She has now been upgraded to serious condition. There were no other cars involved in the accident, and she was alone in her car.

Police are still investigating whether or not alcohol played a role in the accident.
