LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – You've heard of anorexic, where people just don't eat, but now there is a new diagnosis is emerging called orthorexic, referring to someone who is consumed by healthy eating, so much that it actually makes them sick to eat fast food or something they believe is unhealthy. Orthorexia is not an official medical diagnosis, the word, literally means correct appetite, but as organic foods become more popular, eating disorder specialists are seeing more patients like Peggy Moe, who take it to the extreme.

"It kind of snowballed into everything that I ate had to be organic and pure and non processed," said Peggy Moe, an orthorexic. "And they obsess about it, there's a certain righteousness that goes along with it, judgmental, they judge how others eat," said Jill Brown, a registered dietician.

Jill says like any eating disorder, this too can ruin relationships and literally take control of your life.
