TTU official essentially calls Mike Leach a liar in new court documents

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Fired Texas Tech football coach Mike Leach gave "false and misleading testimony under oath," or so says University Regent Larry Anders.

Anders filed his response to Leach's lawsuit which names the University, two regents, and others as defendants.  Leach was fired the last week of December 2009 amid allegations he mistreated player Adam James.  Leach denies it.

The first full sentence of Anders' legal papers says, "Mike Leach was fired by Texas Tech University because of his abusive and irresponsible treatment of a student athlete…"  The verbiage remains pretty tough through the rest of document.

"Leach's improper motives are revealed by his own words," Anders official answer states.

On page four of the answer Anders accuses Leach of giving false testimony under oath about accepting a doctor's diagnosis that James suffered a concussion in mid-December.

Leach says he asked the trainers on two occasions to have James put in a quiet, dark place so as to not aggravate a possible concussion.  But Anders shows utter contempt for Leach's claim. "Leach has made a mockery of this entire proceeding by suggesting in his testimony that he placed Adam James in a dark shed to help James…."

Anders asks that he be removed as an individually named defendant in Leach's lawsuit against Texas Tech.
