LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - A Lubbock Police Captain is improving, but still in serious condition after being injured in a hit and run accident.

Captain Neal Brumley is recovering at University Medical Center. DPS Troopers say he was riding his bicycle near New Home on May 18th when he was hit by a car from behind.

The driver of the car, 34-year-old Florencio Corredor, left the scene of the accident but later that night turned himself in. Corredor, an illegal immigrant, was arraigned on charges of failure to stop and render aid. He will not be able to bond out because of his illegal status.

He remains in the Lynn County Jail. Corredor went before a grand jury on Monday in a special session. He was indicted for failure to stop and render aid. No bond was set. The next step for Corredor is trial.

KCBD NewsChannel 11 will continue to follow this case and will bring you the latest as it becomes available.
