LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – It's normal to feel anxious from time to time, but people with anxiety disorder worry almost constantly about everything from their health to their families to daily responsibilities.
Annette Gary, a nurse at MHMR, says you may think a person with anxiety should be able to just snap out of it, but for many, the fears they worry about bring real physical symptoms. "It can mimic a heart attack, shortness of breath, palpatations, pale, sweating, just a generalized fear of, of whatever the stimulus is that's causing that person to feel anxious," said Gary.
There is treatment for anxiety and Annette says you may start with your family physician, or MHMR has a 24 hour hotline to help people find the help they need, which is 740-1414.
