The Yoshi Blade: Does It Work?

Posted:

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - If you were to categorize all the "As Seen on TV" products in the universe, the "cutting things up" category would probably be the largest. Well, there's a new product on the scene claiming to be the best at something and this week we put the Yoshi Blade to the "Does it Work?" test.

The Yoshi Blade claims to be the world's best ceramic knife. It won't rust or peel and it packs 40% more cutting power, and its zirconium oxide ceramic blade is guaranteed to stay sharp for life.

After reading through the directions we learned that the Yoshi Blade is a slicing knife, not for chopping. We started with the true test of sharpness - slicing fresh bread with a non-serrated blade. Success! It was able to slice both thick and thin pieces.

Test two? Tomato slicing. We were truly impressed by the Yoshi's work on a tomato. We also tested it on onions carrots and cucumber - all with success. So it sliced great, has a nice grip, but will never going to replace your regular knives.

There were lots of "do nots" in the user's guide: Do not put in dishwasher, do not cut frozen food or hard cheeses or meat with bones, do not get it near a heat source, don't use on hard surfaces.

Does it Work? Yeah, but we're not pushing all our chips to the center of the table on this one. There are too many restrictions to get the full endorsement. We gave the Yoshi Blade a rare, "maybe."
