(LUBBOCK, TX) - Lubbock's Congressman Randy Neugebauer voted against needed resources for U.S. Troops. He's not opposed to the troops. He's opposed to a very specific provision in the defense authorization act.
It would eliminate the controversial "Don't' Ask, Don't Tell" policy for gays and lesbians in the U.S. Military.
Neugebauer is quoted by the San Angelo Standard Times: "The purpose of the Defense Authorization Act is to provide our troops with the critical resources they need to accomplish their mission, but Congress put politics over our troops by including the repeal of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' in this bill. Therefore, I could not support it."
Despite Neugebauer's opposition, the measure passed in the U.S. House.
