Mickey Patterson capital murder trial delayed

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - The Mickey Patterson capital murder trial that was scheduled to begin on Tuesday, June 1st has been delayed.

Patterson is accused of killing Peggy Merimon and her co-worker Kay Harrelson. They disappeared in August of 2006 from their job at the Lubbock State School.

Search crews found Harrleson's body less than two weeks later. Merimon's remains were discovered in May. The new evidence has delayed the trial.

Patterson remains behind bars at the Lubbock County Jail. Prosecutors say it could be months before a new trial date is set.
