LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - This weekend is the Children's Miracle Network broadcast and we'll be profiling little miracles all weekend. Kids like Zoey Covarrubias who directly benefitted from the equipment that your CMN donations have helped purchase in the neo-natal intensive care unit at UMC.
Zoey was born November 11th - 3 months early and weighing just one pound 11 ounces and not making a sound. "That's the worst feeling in the world to just hear nothing and I kept looking where she was I couldn't see her and I just kept thinking, ‘Oh God, just let me hear something,'" said Ginger, Zoey's mother.
"I saw them put the baby on the table nothing just laying there and I was like come on come on my wife is like… she… you know I was like, I didn't know what to say what do you say I mean just scared – that's what I was - scared," said Able, Zoey's father.
Zoey spent weeks hooked up to ventilators and machines to keep her alive but Zoey was finally able to go home in late January. Now at six months old, she weighs almost 9 pounds, and you can meet Zoey and her family this weekend right here on KCBD NewsChannel 11 live from the Children's Hospital at UMC.
