TTUHSC working to assess and contain computer virus

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Texas Tech Health Science Center officials are working around the clock to get their network up and running again after a computer virus shut down their system.

TTUHSC is completely offline and the name of the virus that infected their system has not been released. They are currently trying to clean their network, assess the damage, and determine how the virus got in. They are estimating that it will take at least 24 hours to fix.

"Our primary concern is to ensure our constituent's and institution's information resources are protected," said Chip Shaw, TTUHSC vice president for information technology. "Once the assessment is complete and we are sure the threat is contained, we will begin to reestablish connections."
