LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Communities in Schools on the South Plains, Inc. will host their 2nd annual Peace Love and Mud volleyball tournament on June 5th.
You can have fun and get muddy supporting a cause helping student that are at-risk stay in school and graduate. Up to 48 teams will compete on eight courts of mud. Teams will consist of 8-10 players with at least 4 guys and girls. Each team will be guaranteed five games with opportunity to advance to the playoffs.
The tournament will be held at Carpet Tech's Lazy S Rock Ranch located at 18th Street and Milwaukee Avenue. Play begins at 9:00 a.m., but spectators can come anytime to watch the muddy matches and enjoy food, fun, and loud music.
The money from the food and drink purchases will benefit communities in schools on the south plains. There will be Chick fil A, Bahama Bucks, and a church group selling brisket tacos and fajitas. Coke products will also be for sale.
Peace Love and Mud volleyball is an annual mud volleyball tournament to support Communities in Schools on the South Plains. Communities in Schools is a leading community based dropout prevention program helping kids succeed in school and prepare for life. Since 1999, CIS on the South Plains has championed the connection of needed community resources in the school setting for students and their families in the Lubbock area. Peace Love and Mud hosted its first tournament in 2009 with great success with plans to grow each year.
