LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – Meet 14-year-old Christy Baugh. In October of 2008, this active teenager all of a sudden felt weak, very thirsty, her vision was blurry and she was making too many trips to the bathroom. A trip to the doctor's office changed life for the whole family - Christy learned that day she had Type 1 Diabetes.
Christy spent three days at UMC learning how to manage her disease. Now, she can't go anywhere without her pump and always has to keep some source of sugar handy. But this teen is not letting her diabetes keep her from just being a normal teenager. "You can't not have it. You can't take it back. I've just got to deal with it so I might as well be positive if I have to have it the rest of my life," said Christy.
The Children's Miracle Network helps fund special camps for kids like Christy so they can meet other kids with diabetes and learn together how to manage their disease and still have fun in life.
Learn more about other Miracle Kids, like Christy, during the Children's Miracle Network broadcast this weekend live from UMC right here on KCBD NewsChannel 11.
