The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce hosted the National Day of Prayer Thursday afternoon.
Local pastors led prayers for the city, state and the country. Chamber Chairman Eddie McBride said it was an opportunity to bring the business community together. Through all the trials and tribulations we've lived through, this is an outstanding opportunity to show our faith in God, and we always want to have the opportunity to show the business community support of our community," said McBride.
The National Day of Prayer traces its roots back 228 years to the Continental Congress.
