Report says TTU to get official invite to PAC 10 this week

By James Clark | email

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) –  Texas Tech will get a formal invite to join the PAC 10 this week according to a Twitter posting associated with Orangbloods.com.

The various Internet sports magazines have not been wrong on this issue yet.  The latest posting says Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and one more team will get the official invitations.  There is some discussion over inviting Colorado Vs Baylor as a sixth Big 12 Team.

A Texas Tech spokesman did acknowledge hearing the latest report but says the university wants to hold off making a comment until some official action is taken. Meanwhile the Big 10 may try to make a move to lure Missouri and Nebraska out of the Big 12 before Friday.

Friday is the deadline set by the Big 12 to those two schools to make a commitment toward staying or going. Initial comments from Texas Tech were supportive of keeping the Big 12 intact.

But what would a conference change mean for the City of Lubbock and our local economy? we are working on that story and will bring it to you tonight on KCBD NewsChannel 11 at 10.
