Vigil held in Lubbock to raise awareness about Gulf oil spill

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Fifty days after a British Petroleum rig explodes in the Gulf of Mexico, the political website moveon.org wants to raise awareness in Lubbock and nationwide, and call for an end to America's oil addiction.

MoveOn.org hosted a vigil for Lubbock-area residents to support those affected by the oil spill and spread awareness about the accident Tuesday evening. About a dozen people attended the vigil in Higginbotham Park at 19th Street and Vicksburg Avenue.

Lubbock-area residents also will be encouraged to donate money to organizations aiding the effort to provide relief and clean up the spill.
