Keeping your animals safe during the summer months

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - With the temperatures on the South Plains holding steady near the century mark, animals are at high risk for heat stress.

The younger the animal, the more water they need to stay healthy in the heat. Young animals need to drink more often than an adult because they take in less water at a time and have a higher metabolism.

Make sure clean water is available for your animals. Clean water improves their metabolism, decreases diseases, parasite risk as well as promotes good health. Also, leave water partially covered and make sure adequate shade is available for pets outdoors.
