LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) - Two men were taken to Covenant Hospital after a Peterbilt truck collided with a Chevy pick up in Lubbock County just east of Llano Winery.
Troopers say the driver of the Chevy truck, 51-year-old Kelly Tooley of Littlefield, was southbound on FM 3431, and did not stop at the FM 1585 intersection.
DPS says the semi-truck driver, 79-year-old Frank Calkins of Lubbock, was headed east and swerved to avoid the collision, but hit the passenger side of the Chevy. EMS transported Calkins just to get checked out. AeroCare flew Tooley to Covenant.
"He was alert and talking which is a good sign hopefully any extremity injuries all he has but its difficult to know internal injuries with these types of collisions right now all we have is a failed to yield right away stop sign violation. It's pending investigation," says Cpl. John Gonzalez with DPS.
Corporal Gonzalez cautions drivers out in the county to be on the look out for stop signs and to double check intersections before driving through.
