LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) – An innovative kind of care facility for the independent elderly is now open in Lubbock as part of a new program sponsored by MHMR.
It's called La Paloma, and they offer the program PACE that enables seniors over age 55 to live as independently as possible. The PACE program provide seniors access to any supportive services they may need during the day, including Doctors and physical therapists that are always available on hand. What sets La Paloma apart is that the participants are able to go home at night to live on their own or with family.
"There's about 70 or so in the United States right now and we're the third one in Texas to open up. These are some fantastic models of care, I cannot tell you how wonderful they are," said Carson Scott, the Director at La Paloma. He adds, "A lot of people think it's too good to be true, but it's really not it's here, we're ready to serve people so we just need people to come on over."
The PACE program at La Paloma even includes a special unit for seniors with Alzheimer's disease. Transportation is included to and from the facility and it is covered by Medicare.
If you'd like to know more about La Paloma and the PACE program, which is state funded and an all inclusive care facility for the independent elderly, please call La Paloma at (806) 740-1500.
